Melbourne based sound production house Boom Tracks is excited to celebrate the recent release of Peter Farrelly’s latest comedy film Ricky Stanicky starring Zac Efron and John Cena.
The movie follows the story of three childhood best friends who invent the imaginary scapegoat ‘Ricky Stanicky’ to get them out of trouble after a prank goes wrong. Twenty years later, they still use the nonexistent Ricky as a handy alibi for their immature behaviour – until one day they are asked to prove Ricky exists, and are forced to hire a washed up actor to take on the role of a lifetime.
Lead by Sound Supervisor, Paul Pirola, Boom Tracks provided full sound post for the film. Joining the team were re-recording mixers and Hollywood greats, Greg P Russell and Tom Marks, who mixed the film at the Boom Tracks Dolby Atmos mix stage in Port Melbourne. After years of working remotely between Australia and Los Angeles on projects such as Moonfall, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish and Sandra Bullock’s The Unforgivable, Boom Tracks’ team say it was great to welcome the film makers to the Melbourne stage.
Director Peter Farrelly, alongside Picture Editor, Patrick Don Vito, and Music Supervisor Tom Wolfe attended mix reviews and screenings at the Boom Tracks facility. Collaborating in Melbourne with such an accomplished team of Hollywood filmmakers was a big highlight and great opportunity for the local sound artists to showcase their talent.
This project was one of many international films worked on by Boom Tracks over the past year, with many exciting titles slated for release over the coming months.
