Direct from Cannes to Queensland, the cast and crew of the much-anticipated biopic Elvis – from the creative mind of iconic Australian director Baz Luhrmann – walked the red carpet for the Australian Premiere at the Gold Coast, on Saturday 4 June.

To celebrate and promote the film’s upcoming release, the event was attended by Baz Luhrmann, his wife and Academy Award-winning designer Catherine Martin, and stars Tom Hanks, Austin Butler and Olivia DeJonge.

Filmed at Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast and surrounding locations, the production made full use of the studio’s ample facilities, as well as spacious backlots for large and complex constructed sets.

“There is no better place to make a motion picture than right here on the Gold Coast.”

“Magic, magic, magic. ‘The Goldie’ [Gold Coast] is golden. I say it because we’re buying space here, we’ll make more movies here, it’s a special part of the world.”
