Screen Queensland has been nominated for a 2021 Location Managers Guild International Award for Outstanding Film Commission for Paramount Pictures’ Love and Monsters, filmed at Screen Queensland Studios and on location in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Scenic Rim.

This recognition by the international screen industry community, among other high profile global jurisdictions, is testament to Queensland’s diverse and film-friendly locations, attractive incentives and the personalised, attentive service of Screen Queensland staff.

“I’ve worked in the film business as a line producer for over 30 years and I’ve never had a better experience then I just had in Queensland. The crew, their professional level, the diversity of locations and studio facilities all exceeded my expectations … not to mention that I have fallen in love with this wonderful country. I cannot wait to come back.”

John Starke, Executive Producer –  Love and Monsters

The other nominees are: Bath Film Office for Bridgerton; Estonian Film Institute/Film Estonia for Tenet; Hamilton Music and Film Office for Umbrella Academy; Liverpool Film Office for Tin Star: Liverpool; and Savannah Regional Film Commission for The Underground Railroad.

The winner of the 8th Annual LMGI Awards will be announced 23 October 2021.

“The movie is set in Northern California – a 90 mile journey that ends at the Pacific Ocean. Australia – and Queensland in particular – beyond giving us a great rebate which was necessary to make the film, looks and feels like Northern California. It even has locations we’ve embraced that had a more exotic or trippier feel than Northern California, which worked perfectly for the context of a world where humans have gone underground and monsters have taken over for the past seven years. Another benefit from shooting here is the crew – we’ve put together a world class crew in all departments and the majority of them came from within the region.  Working in Queensland was an incredibly positive experience.”
