South Australian born actor Kodi-Smit McPhee has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Power of The Dog.

Smit has already taken home the Golden Globe for the role, and is also nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star award. He starred in SAFC supported sci-fi thriller 2067 which was shot at Adelaide Studios in 2018.

South Australian Director Sophie Hyde’s Good Luck to You, Leo Grande is already receiving rave reviews off the back of its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival in January.

The Guardian has awarded the Emma Thompson led feature four stars and declared it ‘An amusing, compassionate and humane drama acted and directed with terrific panache.’ Hyde and Good Luck To You, Leo Grande Cinematographer and Editor Bryan Mason are part of Adelaide Studios-based production collective Closer Productions.

South Australian Adelaide Studios based producer Peter Lawson of Steel Springs Pictures’ feature Alice also had its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival.

Variety have described the 1970s set film a ‘rousing, empowering fable’. Lawson’s previous credits include John Wick, Spotlight, and Sleepless.
