From its inception, AFA has had a philosophy of providing filmmakers, both in Australia and abroad, with premium helicopter filming solutions. The head of the AFA team and Company founder is award-winning feature film producer/director Gregory Read, who established the company, 15 years ago to provide a global calibre aerial film service to the Australian film industry. Initially, he collaborated with Californian, Nelson Tyler a three-time ACADEMY AWARD® winning engineer to establish AFA as the regional office of TYLER mounts (USA).

From these beginnings, AFA became one of the first aerial companies in the world to own and operate the ACADEMY AWARD® winning aerial camera systems the Shot Over F1 and K1. AFA’s head Aerial DP, Australian Academy nominated cinematographer Peter Beeh leads their specialist crew and helicopter film pilots across the far reaches of the Australasian region, with helicopters and aircraft engineers housed across the nation for speedy and cost-effective access.
