Based in Melbourne, Robotface provides international filmmakers with a dedicated Australian motion control partner capable of delivering world-class robotic cinematography wherever the story demands.
Built around Australia’s largest fleet of industry standard Mark Roberts Motion Control (MRMC) robotic camera systems, Robotface provides international productions with local access to one of the world’s most respected motion control platforms – the same technology family trusted across Hollywood feature films, premium streaming productions and complex VFX pipelines.
Why productions choose motion control:
- Repeatable camera movement – execute identical camera moves across multiple takes, lighting setups, practical effects and VFX passes.
- Integrated VFX workflows – export and import FBX camera data, allowing camera moves to transition seamlessly between previs, production and post
- Virtual production ready – stream real-time camera position directly into Unreal Engine for LED volume and virtual production workflows.
- Precision camera choreography – deliver complex moves beyond the capability of traditional dollies, cranes or handheld operation.
- Miniatures and scale work – repeat camera moves across full-scale sets and miniature environments for seamless visual effects integration.
- High-speed cinematography – combine Phantom VEO 4K imaging with robotic precision for dynamic slow-motion sequences.
- Timelapse and motion programming – execute long-duration programmed moves with consistent framing and repeatability.
- Production-ready portability – deploy sophisticated motion control systems throughout Australia without being confined to a studio environment.
The fleet includes three MRMC Bolt and BOLT Jr robot arms, precision track systems, the highly portable Cinebot MINI and a Phantom VEO 4K high-speed camera. Designed for both studio and location production, Robotface’s systems can be deployed anywhere in Australia, allowing productions to combine sophisticated camera robotics with the country’s diverse landscapes and world-class production facilities.
The trained and experienced team of operators and technicians is led by cinematographer Tom David, director Andrew Dale and producer Steph David, who work closely with directors, cinematographers, producers, VFX supervisors and agencies from early concept and testing through to shoot execution.
Robotface’s MRMC systems support repeatable camera moves, invisible visual effects, virtual production, character doubles, miniature photography, transformation shots, high-speed cinematography and complex camera choreography-while providing accurate camera data for efficient VFX integration.
